Carlos and Aida Morales from Bayamon, Puerto Rico, currently share a two-room apartment with their three daughters—ages 4, 9 and 12—and Aida’s 16-year-old nephew. In just over a month, however, the family will move into their own home in Detroit.
Homeowner Aida Morales looks to the future with optimism thanks to Habitat.
Aida clearly remembers the moment she found out that her family had been approved for a Habitat home: “I was so excited,” she says. “It’s really wonderful. I’m looking forward to having an open house once we move in.”
Aida is grateful for the work of the volunteers who are helping build her family’s home and says that if she could say anything to them it would be to keep up the good work. “There are still many families who need a place to live,” she says.
