Harry Braxton -- Habitat for Humanity Int'l 1
‘I want to be the icebreaker’
Harry Braxton began to look into homeownership with Habitat for Humanity when he learned that his cousin was building a home with Habitat in the Sandtown community of Baltimore City. His preference for the east side of Baltimore led him to Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake.
Braxton had to move into his sister’s apartment after his parents’ home caught fire in February, during a blizzard. “It was very hard on my mom and dad, but they have a nice place to live now, so they are OK.”
Braxton works as a counter salesman for a wholesale heating and air-conditioning parts company. He also drives a truck part time. In his free time, Braxton likes to go to the gym and work out.
He looks forward to owning a home. “I grew up in a household that always rented. I want to be the icebreaker, the first person in my immediate family to own my own home.”
He says both his mom and dad are very proud of him and that he really looks forward to having family events at his new home.
