The Idella Thomas family
At home without fear
Idella Thomas has a young son at home. Like any mother, she wants a better future for her child than she had on her own.
“Being a homeowner means the world to my son and me,” Thomas said. “We will no longer have the concern of living in a neighborhood where we always feel unsafe and fear for our safety.”
The family’s new home will be a house rehabbed through the Neighborhood Stabilization Program. Thomas can’t wait to make it her own.
She was born in Birmingham and is a graduate of Woodlawn High School. Thomas is employed by Oak Knoll Health and Rehab as a dietary aide; she hopes to go back to school soon and become a registered nurse.
When she’s not working, Thomas enjoys being involved at The Worship Center in Centerpoint. She enjoys her quiet time and spending quality time with her son, 2-year-old Jaterrius.
He already loves to ride his bike and play outside, and he loves watching cartoons. Soon, Jaterrius will be able to play and grow in his mother’s new home.
