Habitat for Humanity Paraguay invites volunteers from Latin America and the Caribbean to celebrate 2,000 lives changed
Habitat Paraguay seeks 10 volunteers from countries across the Latin American and Caribbean regions to help improve 10 artisan homes.
ASUNCIÓN, Paraguay (February 6, 2012) – Habitat for Humanity Paraguay invites individuals from countries across the region to share the unforgettable experience of volunteering in Paraguay. The construction event, which will celebrate the organization’s service to 2,000 families in the country, will take place May 7-12, 2012 in Areguá.
The organization is seeking 10 volunteers from Latin American and Caribbean countries who, together with volunteers from the United States and Paraguay, will help improve 10 productive houses (houses for families that produce handicrafts in their homes) in only five days.
The team will accept the first 10 volunteers over the age of 18 who confirm participation. The event organizers will handle the logistical details of food, housing and activities for the team during their stay.
Areguá is a colonial city located in the Central Department, about 28 kilometers from Asunción. It is one of the main tourist areas of the country and has been considered a National Heritage Site since 1997. This charming city is known for its ceramic handicrafts and draws artisans and families who help preserve its widely loved traditions and history.
During the five work days (May 7-12), the volunteers will help to improve the homes of artisan families by building an additional work space and small showroom for their handicrafts. As productive homes, the aim is to develop a home that has adequate space for family life, as well as a space for productive activities and a clean area where the artisans can display and sell their work.
