This article explores the importance of public policy in facilitating access to social housing in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a particular emphasis on the challenges and needs of vulnerable groups. 

It analyzes how public policies can address the systemic barriers faced by these groups, the elements that characterize successful policies, common implementation obstacles, and the need for a comprehensive approach tailored to regional diversity. 

The article also highlights the contribution of Habitat for Humanity International in the region, both in the direct provision of housing solutions and in advocacy for more inclusive public policy development.
