Where will you serve?

Dane County, WI offers a variety of activities and recreation. Madison is an urban capital city with incredible restaurants, concerts, museums, bookstores, and recreational sports clubs. Nature is not far--the county is home to dozens of parks, trails, and nature preserves. In the warmer seasons, locals hike the Ice Age Trail, explore bike paths, or kayak around the lakes and creeks. There is plenty to do in the winter too--skiing, snowshoeing, and ice fishing are popular activities here.

Habitat for Humanity of Dane County (HFHDC) serves Madison, Wisconsin and its surrounding communities. While commercial housing developments are a common sight, the lack of affordable housing in the county is prominent. Habitat is working to address this by building quality homes with affordable mortgages and low or no interest rates. Our goal at HFHDC is to complete 15 homes per fiscal year. Habitat also maintains existing homes and performs critical repairs through our home repair program.

Our AmeriCorps members are part of Habitat’s mission: to be a leader and partner in affordable housing solutions that positively impact families, communities, and the environment. They gain construction knowledge and problem-solving skills and have a voice in growing our programs. They will get to serve alongside future homeowners and volunteers every day.

In addition to the standard benefits, our members are entitled to a $200 living stipend paid directly to a landlord as well as a $50 boot stipend for appropriate footwear to serve at the construction site. For more information, visit www.habitatdane.org.

Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat brings together people of all faiths and people of no faith to build homes, communities and hope. Working alongside each other, we help families and individuals build and improve places to call home and achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Habitat seeks individuals who have a willingness to affirm these principles and values.
