Volunteer and Homeowner Services Coordinator - 2020 - 21

This full-time AmeriCorps service position offers a great opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of others while building your own knowledge and skillset.

AmeriCorps National members serve the community in direct service and capacity building activities.

What will you do?

The volunteer services coordinator helps recruit, train, schedule and recognize volunteers while growing the volunteer base and advancing individual and group partnerships. Market within the community to recruit new volunteers. Develop new events and opportunities for volunteers to engage with the mission of Habitat for Humanity.

*Typically serve Tuesday – Saturday to support work on the build site.
*Recruit and schedule volunteers for construction, office, ReStore, deconstruction, family services and special events opportunities.
*Assist with all aspects of volunteer management including orientations, maintenance of database, volunteer tracking and follow-up.
*Work with construction staff to ensure successful volunteer build days – signing volunteers in, providing orientation and safety briefings, helping put away tools with volunteers at the end of the day and ordering necessary volunteer supplies.
*Develop and/or revise volunteer recruitment, management and recognition tools.
*Coordinate existing programs to recruit homeowner applicants for traditional homeownership opportunities or for expanded housing products such rehab, repair or weather revitalization.
*Conduct applicant orientations and assist families throughout process of completing the housing application.
*Work with the family selection committee to select homeowner families based on established criteria and regulations.
*Work with the family services committee and staff to provide educational opportunities to homeowner families.
*On occasion, build alongside homeowner families as they complete their contract requirements.

Where will you serve?

St. Croix Valley Habitat for Humanity is building. We are building our affiliate to better serve the mission to help families with safe and affordable housing. We are building our relationships within our communities in Pierce and St. Croix Counties so that we can work together to cement the basic building blocks of shelter, health and education. These foundations mean people of all ages are building lifelong success into the communities where they live, work and play. We are building partnerships with foundations and corporate and government giving to strengthen the work we will do in 2021. As a Thrivent Faith Builds Venture recipient, we will focus our attention on the first new home we’ve built in three years. Through partnership with Thrivent, our faith communities, and our long-held relationships with corporate partners, we have our sites set on a start date for this home in the Spring. And, as we celebrate our 25th year, we are adding 3-5 Rock The Block, Aging in Place and A Brush With Kindness programs into our year. *Living allowance $15,850 for approximately 10 ½ months of service.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident at least 18 or older and have a high school diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications

*Knowledge of, and willingness to promote, the mission and activities of Habitat for Humanity International and AmeriCorps.
*Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
*Strong written and verbal communication skills.
*Detail oriented and highly organized.
*Experience working with volunteers, teaching or group facilitation
*Experience working as a member of a team.
*Basic experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel.
*Current valid driver’s license, a clean driving record and reliable transportation
