After being approved to expand our geographical service area to include Dillon County, SC, work is ongoing on our very first home build in the town of Lake View, SC. The exterior work on the home is approximately 85% complete while the interior work (drywall, painting, interior trim, etc) remains. Our affiliate schedules host churches for our student groups. The host church will provide breakfast options for your group. Having been involved in Collegiate Challenge since 1996, our office has built strong partnerships with local businesses, churches, civic groups, and individuals to provide all other meals for your group. The weekly work schedule starts on 8:00 AM each day and ends around 4;30 PM. There will be a 24’ portable shower trailer set up at your location consisting of 6 individual shower stalls (3 Males/3Females) for bathing. There is also a washer/dryer available for group use. We offer Wednesday afternoon off for our groups for some rest and relaxation during the trip. Most groups have chosen to visit Myrtle Beach, which is approximately 45 miles from Mullins.

Sumter Habitat for Humanity has been participating in Collegiate Challenge since 1998.  We provide lodging at one of our local churches, with air mattresses, sheets, blankets, pillows, and pillowcases. Showers will be provided at the end of the workday at our local YMCA. Volunteers must bring their own towels and toiletries. We partner with folks in our community to provide lunch on-site every day. Additionally, we provide dinner at least three times during the week, more if there is additional interest from our community providers. We never say no to a meal. Breakfast will be the only meal you will need to provide yourself. Sumter Habitat for Humanity was started in 1987. Since that time, we have completed 130 homes and are currently working on home #131. Our upcoming projects will include the renovation of three Habitat homes that another partner family will have the opportunity to purchase. You may be tasked with installing cabinetry, flooring, hanging doors and hardware, or who knows what else at this point. Weather conditions will also play a role in the work schedule.Locally, evening entertainment may include an escape room at your expense. SHFH can facilitate a discount rate if you like. We have our Sumter Museum tour and a walking tour of historical downtown Sumter. We can arrange options prior to your arrival. Sumter, known as Gamecock City, lies near the geographic center of South Carolina. It is home to Swan Lake Iris Gardens, the only public park in the United States containing all 8 species of swan. Sumter is 100 miles west of Myrtle Beach’s Grand Strand and 175 miles east of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Columbia, the state capital, is about 45 miles to the west, and Charleston is around 100 miles to the south. If you would like a day off to “relax,” please choose either Monday or Friday. Once you commit to a day off, it cannot be changed, as work will be scheduled around that day off.   Your non-refundable contribution of $150 is used to purchase materials for the home(s) you will be working on. Free accommodations are provided at one of two homes owned by one of our church partners, just minutes from all of our build sites. Each home offers full kitchen, 1 or 2 baths, and 3 to 5 bedrooms. After being approved to expand our geographical service area to include Dillon County, SC, work is ongoing on our very first home build in the town of Lake View, SC. The exterior work is approximately 85% complete, while the interior work (drywall, painting, interior trim, etc.) remains. Our affiliate schedules host churches to house our student groups. The host church will provide breakfast options for your group. Having been involved in Collegiate Challenge since 1996, our office has built a strong partnership with local businesses, churches, civic groups, and individuals to provide all other meals for your group during the week. The weekly work schedule starts at 8:00 AM each day and ends around 4:30 PM. There will be a 24’ portable enclosed trailer set up at your host location for bathing. The trailer has 6 individual shower stalls (3 for males and 3 for females). There are also a washer and dryer located in the rear of the trailer that can assist your group with any clothing needing to be cleaned. We offer Wednesday afternoon off for our groups to visit our local attractions and get some rest in relaxation while in SC. Most groups have chosen to spend the afternoon and evening in Myrtle Beach which is approximately 45 miles from Marion County.

Habitat of Lake-Sumter has our shared facility called the Domestic Global Village to house volunteers in one location. The facility received rave reviews and includes dormitory style bunk beds and bath houses, full kitchen, and outdoor seating. As a volunteer you will serve on a variety of projects (preservation or rehab of homes, new construction, and other collaborations) that support our Community Engagement and Homeownership Programs. Pittsboro has a diverse and accomplished artistic community, so there are plenty of small shops and independent galleries to explore- and the locals are the nicest folks you’ll ever meet! We’re a string of sleepy farm towns that have seen massive growth in the recent years, now we need your help to build stable, affordable homes for the people who have lived and worked here for generations. We will provide lunches on workdays and a big banquet-style dinner at the end of the week, but groups are responsible for other meals. Housing is provided by Tyson’s Creek Baptist Church, with separate spaces for male/females.

Join Habitat for Humanity of the St. Vrain Valley for a week of building on one of our construction sites. No construction experience is necessary! Working alongside our construction supervisors, core volunteers, and future homeowners you have the opportunity to learn new skills while building homes, community, and hope in the St. Vrain Valley. A typical construction day goes from 9am to 4pm with an hour break for lunch. We provide housing for out-of-town teams for $175 per person per week. Our Volunteer Hospitality Center can accommodate up to 16 volunteers. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. The Volunteer Hospitality Center provides the following amenities:Two bunkroomsTwo full bathrooms with showersFull kitchenCommunal recreation/relaxation areaFree off-street parkingFree WiFiLinens and towels are provided.The Volunteer Hospitality Center is conveniently located within walking distance of historic downtown Longmont just a few blocks from Main Street.
