We met Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter on a Disney Cruise in 2002. They were there with the entire Carter clan to celebrate New Years. Jimmy gave a talk on 9/11. On New Years Eve, our daughter was in the kids club, so I picked up a balloon to bring to her. At the elevators, the Carters were right in front of us and someone knocked the balloon out of my hand. President Carter picked up the balloon and handed it to a little girl near me. I didn't have the heart to tell him that she wasn't my little girl...

I met Rosalynn Carter for the first time at a Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter work project in Canada. We didn't work on the same home, but I recall stories of how she worked longer than anyone and took fewer breaks! I then had the pleasure of meeting her again at President Carter's childhood home in Plains, GA, where she spoke to the assembled group. She was funny and smart and a kind soul. I was fortunate enough to meet Mrs. Carter while on a White House tour in either 1977 or 1978, hard to recall exactly.
