Daikin partners with Habitat for Humanity

Partnership provides funding and new HVAC systems to support Habitat’s mission

ATLANTA (Nov. 7, 2013) – Habitat for Humanity International announced today that Daikin North America LLC will donate 250,000 in funding and Daikin-brand HVAC systems and equipment to Habitat for Humanity affiliates across the United States and Canada.

The announcement was made during Daikin’s dealer kickoff event in Houston to promote the new Daikin unitary line. Daikin celebrated the announcement by installing the partnership’s first HVAC system on a new home in Houston Habitat for Humanity’s Harrel Park neighborhood and hosting a barbecue with contractors, Habitat volunteers and Habitat homeowner families.

“Daikin is committed to supporting affordable housing and increasing the use of energy-efficient heating and cooling systems in the U.S. through this partnership with Habitat. On behalf of our employees, our independent network of local Daikin Comfort Pros and our suppliers, we are excited to be able to support such great work. I couldn’t think of a better way to demonstrate the commitment that we, as well as our dealers, have to serving the local communities across North America,” said Dave Swift, CEO of Daikin North America LLC and Goodman Global Group, Inc.

As part of Daikin’s partnership with Habitat for Humanity, Daikin will donate heating and cooling equipment to support local Daikin Comfort Pros in installing new HVAC systems in Habitat homes. Moreover, Daikin is committed to providing for purchase equipment at below cost rates for Habitat builds across the U.S. and Canada, with potential savings in excess of 1,000 per new house built.

“We are grateful to Daikin North America for their commitment to work with Habitat for Humanity to make affordable housing possible in partnership with low-income families,” said Colleen Ridenhour, deputy director, corporate and foundation relations, for Habitat for Humanity International. “Because of this generous gift, Habitat affiliates are now able to serve even more families in need of decent housing.”
