Valspar to contribute $36 million to Habitat for Humanity

ATLANTA and MINNEAPOLIS (March 23, 2015) – The Valspar Corporation today announced a five-year pledge of 36 million in paint and funding to Habitat for Humanity. The pledge includes a 2 million contribution from the Valspar Corporation Foundation. Valspar donated more than 6 million in paint and 350,000 to support Habitat’s affordable housing work in 2015, and anticipates maintaining this level of support through 2019.

“Valspar is proud to provide volunteers, paint and funding to assist Habitat affiliates with the construction, repair and rehabilitation of decent, safe and affordable housing,” said Gary E. Hendrickson, Valspar CEO and Chairman. “Valspar’s long-standing partnership with Habitat has helped transform and improve communities across this nation. Neighborhoods matter and we’re on it.”

Valspar is a driving force behind A Brush with Kindness, Habitat for Humanity’s exterior Home Preservation program transforming neighborhoods by painting home exteriors and providing minor repairs and landscaping in partnership with low-income, disabled and senior homeowners.

“We are deeply grateful for Valspar’s level of commitment to Habitat and the families with whom we partner,” said Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International. “Valspar is a critical partner in our new construction and neighborhood revitalization efforts and enables us to help the growing numbers of families in need of affordable housing or home repairs. Their support is crucial as we seek to help families create or remain in the homes they love and breathe new life into their communities.”

As Habitat’s national paint partner, Valspar provided Habitat affiliates with 2.2 million gallons of paint through 2014, bringing total cash and paint donations to more than 60 million since 2002.
