Habitat for Humanity applauds House passage of Housing for the 21st Century Act
ATLANTA (Feb. 10, 2026) — Habitat for Humanity applauds the House’s passage of the bipartisan Housing for the 21st Century Act. This is the most significant housing bill that the House has passed in more than a decade and we are grateful for the commitment to housing that it demonstrates and support its provisions to increase housing supply and improve affordability by reducing regulatory barriers and modernizing federal housing programs.
We are encouraged by action taken by the House and Senate to address our nation’s housing affordability challenges. Congress must keep this momentum going and pass a final bipartisan housing affordability package as soon as possible that will take meaningful action to help address our nation’s housing crisis and increase supply.
As one of the nation’s largest builders of starter homes, Habitat for Humanity stands ready to support federal housing investments that will bring affordable homeownership within reach of more American families.
About Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity is a movement of people in your local area and around the world, working together to build more prosperous and vibrant communities by making sure everyone has a safe, affordable place to call home. Since our founding in 1976 as a Christian organization, together we have helped more than 65 million people globally build their futures on their own terms through access to decent housing. We’ve done that by working alongside people of all walks of life to build, repair and finance their homes, by innovating new ways of building and financing, and by advocating for policies that make constructing and accessing housing easier for everyone.
