Habitat for Humanity applauds House passage of amended 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act
ATLANTA (May 20, 2026) — Habitat for Humanity applauds the House of Representatives’ bipartisan passage of the amended 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act by a vote of 396 - 13. As concerns around housing affordability grow among Americans, this bill will open pathways needed to build and preserve the nation’s affordable housing stock.
Habitat supports several key provisions in the bill that will strengthen existing programs, as well as reduce unnecessary barriers to the construction, repair, and rehabilitation of affordable homes. Congress must seize this momentum. Habitat urges lawmakers to come together to finalize a comprehensive housing package that delivers lasting solutions and brings the dream of homeownership within reach for more Americans. We stand ready to work alongside the House and Senate in addressing the nation’s supply needs.
