Your Impact

In this role, you will build relationships that inspire long term giving and help expand the reach of Habitat’s mission. You will guide donors through thoughtful giving decisions, helping them create lasting contributions that support housing and community development worldwide.

Location and Travel

This position is fully remote within the United States. You will have the flexibility to work from your home while collaborating with colleagues and partners across the country and around the world.

We are hiring for two Development Officer, Planned Giving positions, each aligned to a distinct geographic region, the South or Midwest. In this role, you will build and manage donor relationships within your assigned territory and support engagement across regional donor communities.

This role requires approximately 40 percent domestic travel, including visits to the Atlanta headquarters as well as attendance at conferences and networking events.

Key Responsibilities

*Build and manage a portfolio of planned giving prospects, developing meaningful relationships that lead to long term commitments
*Identify, cultivate, and solicit planned gifts, including legacy and life income gifts
*Engage donors through personalized outreach including virtual and in person meetings
*Collaborate with major gifts teams and local Habitat offices to align strategies and strengthen donor engagement
*Develop and execute donor strategies, including proposals, presentations, and stewardship plans
*Respond to inquiries and guide donors through planned giving opportunities with care and clarity
*Track activity, maintain accurate records, and provide pipeline updates and revenue forecasts

Must Have Qualifications

*Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
*3+ years of experience identifying, cultivating, and closing planned gifts
*Proven success securing six figure or higher planned gift commitments, including life income gifts
*Strong communication and relationship building skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences
*Ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage multiple priorities
*A passion for Habitat’s mission and the ability to inspire others to support it

Nice to Have

*5 or more years of experience in fundraising or planned giving
*Experience using tools such as PG Calc, Blackbaud, or similar donor systems
*Certification in estate planning, financial planning, or gift planning

Compensation and Benefits

The actual salary offered for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including location, internal equity and the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience. HFHI offers a competitive, comprehensive benefits package that varies by country and typically includes vacation leave, sick leave, personal days, health insurance options, retirement plan contributions and life insurance. For work locations in the US, the hiring range for this position is $89,340 to $105,100 per year.
