Explore findings from Habitat’s Home at What Cost? global housing survey across 22 countries. These interactive dashboards bring the research to life through maps, visualizations, and country-level comparisons, while downloadable country profiles provide additional context and insights for individual countries.
The first dashboard explores how people are experiencing housing challenges today, including housing satisfaction, affordability pressures, housing stability, wellbeing, climate concerns, and other impacts of housing conditions on daily life. The second dashboard explores perspectives on housing solutions, including priorities for better housing, support for affordable and social housing, and views on who should be responsible for improving housing conditions.
Use the “Survey themes” dropdown menu on each dashboard to select a topic and explore how respondents across the 22 surveyed countries answered a specific question. Compare results across countries, identify common challenges and priorities, and examine both the problems people face and the solutions they believe can improve housing outcomes.

About the research
Home at What Cost? draws on survey responses from 30,758 people across 22 countries. The survey included nationally representative online samples in each country, with additional targeted respondents designed to better capture groups who are often underrepresented in public opinion research, including low-income respondents and people living in informal arrangements.
Supplemental fieldwork approaches were used in select countries to increase reach among populations who were less accessible through online panels.
For more information about the survey design, sample composition, weighting methodology and study limitations, a more detailed Technical Appendix is available.
