Ely, MN (RV26-0166)

Aug. 02 - Aug. 16, 2026

BUILD DETAILS
Work schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8:30 – 4:00 with a break for lunch. The affiliate will work to provide lunches and will communicate with the team lead when Care-A-Vanners should prepare their own lunches.
Type of work:

Join North St. Louis County Habitat for Humanity as we build a home in Ely, located on the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Ely has been named a “top adventure town” by National Geographic and a top small town by Smithsonian Magazine. We look forward to seeing new and returning Care-A-Vanners this summer. When you aren’t on site, be sure to enjoy Ely’s shops, museums and galleries, restaurants, trails, and lakes.

Volunteers will stay at Stony Ridge Resort, whose new owners are excited to host Habitat volunteers. Our affiliate is paying upfront campsite fees, but we ask to be reimbursed at $20 per night. Checkout is Saturday, August 15.

Parking location:
Volunteers will stay at Stony Ridge Resort on Shagawa Lake at the southwest entrance to Ely. Care-A-Vanners should note that although Google search results may say the resort is closed, it is under new ownership, and only the former restaurant is closed. Camp sites have electric and water hookups, and there are two dump sites in Ely. Our affiliate is paying camping fees, and six sites have been reserved, but we ask that Care-A-Vanners reimburse our affiliate at $20 per night (the cost per night reflected here) to help us with building cost.
