Puerto Rico native, rapper, producer and “Despacito” singer Daddy Yankee has pledged a personal donation of $250,000 and to raise an additional $1.5 million toward Habitat’s plans to help Puerto Ricans repair and rebuild in the aftermath of the storm.
Since the national partnership began in 2003, Lowe’s and Habitat have worked together to help more than 18,000 people build or improve a place to call home.
Recognizing that predatory loan practices both online and offline are leaving many Americans trapped in a cycle of debt, Habitat for Humanity supports and encourages U.S. senators to co-sponsor S 2760, the Stopping Abuse and Fraud in Electronic, or SAFE, Lending Act to curb predatory lending practices and promote financial stability.
To help families recover from Hurricane Michael, Verizon announced its foundation is providing $1 million in support of Habitat for Humanity’s recovery efforts. In addition, more than 20 volunteers from Verizon are on hand helping to raise the walls on the latest home being built in the Florida Panhandle.
The Scott Brothers join Habitat to kick off the Home is the Key campaign, which puts the spotlight on affordable housing and enlists leading corporations and their customers to support housing solutions.
