Valspar® Paint introduces the Valspar Color Project, a video series featuring Molly Sims, Lauren Conrad and Padma Lakshmi benefiting Habitat for Humanity

Celebrities share their color transformation stories with a goal of raising 300,000 for Habitat for Humanity

CHICAGO, May 17, 2012 –Valspar Paint today introduces the Valspar Color Project, an online video series featuring three celebrities as they share how they connect to the power in color. The Valspar Color Project takes you behind the scenes as actress and mom-to-be Molly Sims designs her new nursery, fashion designer Lauren Conrad brings color into her office space and renowned cookbook author and television host Padma Lakshmi creates a bold and inviting kitchen. Each celebrity uses her favorite color of Valspar Paint to makeover their room and reveals in a short video why she loves her color and how it transformed the space. As the videos are shared through social media, they will also raise money for Habitat for Humanity, an international nonprofit affordable housing organization supported by Valspar and each of the celebrities.

Now through September 15, every time a Valspar Color Project color story video is shared through the Valspar Paint Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ValsparPaint, Valspar will donate 1 to Habitat for Humanity with a goal of raising 300,000. This amount is in addition to the 3.2 million in cash and paint donations Valspar will make to Habitat for Humanity this year.

Molly Sims, model, actress and mother-to-be, chose to bring a nursery room in her house to life with Valspar Zen Garden, a pastel green. Molly’s Valspar Color Project video will premiere on www.facebook.com/ValsparPaint May 16.

“The Zen Garden color I chose for my new nursery really reflects my personality, and I’m amazed by how this color has the ability to change my mood as soon as I walk in the room,” said Sims. “Color is such an important part of my world, which is why I’m so proud to be part of the Valspar Color Project and help raise money for Habitat for Humanity. I get the chance to help show people just how powerful color can be.”

Fashion designer and bestselling author Lauren Conrad joined the Valspar Color Project after spending several months surrounded by all white walls in her Paper Crown clothing line office in Los Angeles. She chose Valspar Brushed Rose from her favorite color family, pink, to transform her office and creative work space. Conrad, whose color transformation story will premiere on www.facebook.com/ValsparPaint in June, hopes that everyone will watch and share her video so she can reach her personal goal of raising 100,000 for Habitat for Humanity.

“I have worked with Habitat for Humanity, and it’s an organization that means a lot to me,” said Conrad. “It’s really an honor to be a part of such a great initiative and work with Valspar to help raise money to build homes in partnership with low-income families in need of affordable housing. Through Habitat, Valspar allows everyone to connect to the power in color.”

Padma Lakshmi, award-winning cookbook author, actress and television host, transformed a kitchen using Valspar Fabulous Red. “A coat of paint in a room can do so much to inspire our imagination, and color is really important to a cook and to a kitchen because we eat first with our eyes,” noted Lakshmi. She too has set a personal goal of raising 100,000 through shares of her color story video, which premieres in July on www.facebook.com/ValsparPaint.

The Valspar Color Project is part of an ongoing partnership between Valspar and Habitat for Humanity International. Valspar’s support for Habitat began in the mid-1980s, when it first provided paint and services to Habitat for Humanity Twin Cities. Since launching their national partnership in 2002, Valspar Paint has donated more than 40 million in cash and paint to Habitat. Valspar and Habitat recently marked their long-standing partnership by celebrating the 1 millionth gallon of Valspar Paint donated to Habitat.
