Batteries Plus Bulbs® helps Habitat for Humanity brighten homes nationwide

Company donates more than half a million dollars in light bulbs

HARTLAND, Wis. (June 27, 2013) – Batteries Plus Bulbs has joined forces with Habitat for Humanity to provide lighting to the organization’s home building projects across the country. Batteries Plus Bulbs donated more than 182,000 compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) to the organization. The donation, valued at more than half a million dollars, will be used by Habitat for Humanity in new and rehabilitated homes in Alabama, Arizona, Missouri and Wisconsin.

“The opportunity to support Habitat for Humanity’s mission to improve the lives of families in need is an extremely rewarding experience for our company,” said Russ Reynolds, CEO of Batteries Plus Bulbs. “Much like Habitat for Humanity, we have locations across the country, so this gift really helps us extend our strong sense of community roots and the ways we continue giving back to our neighborhoods.”

The gift of CFL bulbs not only provides Habitat for Humanity with much-needed resources for the homes the organization builds each year, but also provides an energy-efficient lighting option. According to Batteries Plus Bulbs lighting experts, CFLs use one-fifth to one-third the electric power of incandescent bulbs, and last eight to 15 times longer, giving Habitat for Humanity home residents a long-term, cost-saving benefit for lighting their spaces.

“As a nonprofit organization, we rely on the generosity of companies like Batteries Plus Bulbs to help us fulfill our mission to provide safe and affordable housing in communities nationwide,” said Kymberly Wolff, Habitat for Humanity senior vice president of development. “The warm glow of a front porch light is often a symbol of the comfort of home, and the light bulbs donated by Batteries Plus Bulbs will help our partner families brighten their homes for many years to come.”
