Schneider Electric partners with Habitat for Humanity for 17th year

ATLANTA and ANDOVER, Mass. (June 14, 2017) – Schneider Electric today announced a partnership renewal with Habitat for Humanity that will help more than 20 families secure an affordable place to call home. With a cash donation of more than $725,000, Schneider Electric’s commitment to Habitat exceeds $7.5 million in 17 years of partnership.

“Throughout its history, Schneider Electric has demonstrated a commitment to making affordable access to energy a matter of conscience and action,” said Ted Klee, senior vice president, Global Supply Chain, North America, Schneider Electric. “Our partnership with Habitat for Humanity is directly tied to our ‘Life Is On’ mission, helping us to ensure safe and sustainable energy is everywhere and available to everyone in every home.”

As part of the renewal, this month Schneider Electric volunteers will join together in Chicago for a four-day Women Build project, a national Habitat program that engages women volunteers to build or construct homes. In July, 75 Schneider Electric employees will participate in Habitat’s 34th annual Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project, a weeklong event where volunteers and future Habitat homeowners will join the Carters in building 150 homes across Canada to mark the country’s 150th anniversary of confederation.

“We thank Schneider Electric for supporting Habitat for 17 years,” said Colleen Finn Ridenhour, senior vice president of Development at Habitat for Humanity International. “The immense generosity of partners like Schneider Electric helps us to work with more families and build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter.”

In addition to the cash donation, Schneider Electric is also providing up to $2.75 million in electrical equipment to Habitat homes in the United States and Canada this year as part of a four-year gift-in-kind commitment. Since 2000, Schneider Electric has donated electrical equipment valued at $36.7 million to help reduce the costs to build homes.

About Habitat for Humanity

Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort on a community farm in southern Georgia. The Christian housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in more than 1,300 communities throughout the U.S. and in more than 70 countries. Families and individuals in need of a hand up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower. To learn more, visit habitat.org.
