State Farm and Habitat for Humanity continue partnership to engage youth and inspire change in communities across the U.S.

ATLANTA (March 29, 2022)  State Farm today announced that it is renewing its long-standing partnership with Habitat for Humanity. The company, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, and the global housing organization will continue to work together to engage and mobilize youth to help families achieve strength, stability and self-reliance through affordable housing.

“For 100 years, State Farm has been a good neighbor in communities across the country with a focus on safety, community development and education,” said Apsara Sorensen, State Farm director of public affairs. “We are excited to continue our support of Habitat for Humanity’s youth engagement programs that educate and energize young people to advocate for and implement affordable housing initiatives.”

State Farm has sponsored Habitat’s youth programs across the country, including Habitat chapters on high school and college campuses and Habitat young professional programs since 2007. This year, State Farm will continue its support through its Youth Matching and Action Grants, offering funding opportunities for local Habitat affiliates to partner with young leaders on community projects that support affordable housing efforts, including home construction, repair or rehab projects, disaster response programs and housing innovation. Grant funding will allow Habitat to engage more than 3,500 young people, raise an additional $200,000 for shelter solutions and serve more than 25 families in 2022.

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with State Farm,” said Julie Laird Davis, vice president of corporate and cause marketing partnerships at Habitat for Humanity International. “Younger generations are the drivers behind creating change, and we are inspired by their dedication to strengthen their neighborhoods and communities. We are grateful for State Farm’s partnership to engage the next generation of leaders and for their support of our mission to build homes, communities and hope.”

Habitat for Humanity and State Farm began their partnership in 1994. Since then, State Farm has donated nearly $15 million to Habitat for Humanity to support and involve youth in the housing nonprofit’s mission. State Farm’s local community grants have generated an additional $50 million in funds to Habitat for Humanity. With State Farm’s support, Habitat has engaged more than 800,000 youth and more than $3.2 million has been raised to match State Farm grants by Habitat organizations in 300 communities across the country.

About Habitat for Humanity

Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort on a community farm in southern Georgia. The Christian housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in local communities across all 50 states in the U.S. and in more than 70 countries. Families and individuals in need of a hand up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower. To learn more, visit habitat.org.
