Habitat for Humanity applauds Senate passage of ROAD to Housing Act

ATLANTA (Oct. 10, 2025)A decade of fast-rising home prices is pushing homeownership out of reach for millions of low- and moderate-income households, but the solution isn’t as simple as building more homes. Habitat for Humanity applauds the Senate’s passage of the bipartisan ROAD to Housing Act along with the leadership of Chair Tim Scott and Ranking Member Elizabeth Warren who championed the bill. We are encouraged by the commitment to housing that this bill demonstrates and support its provisions to streamline existing programs, increase the supply of affordable homes and preserve our aging housing stock.

For the first time in over a decade, both the Senate and the House are considering robust housing packages, which have specific provisions to support affordable homeownership. Habitat for Humanity stands ready to support these and to continue to pursue additional housing investments that will bring affordable homeownership within reach of more American families.
