Accessible upgrades for aging homeowners

Through our Aging in Place program, Habitat aims to help older adults make the upgrades and repairs necessary to ensure their homes are accessible and safe to continue living in as they age. These stories exemplify our work to provide these accessible accommodations across the U.S.

Through Habitat’s Solid Ground global advocacy campaign, families in Zambia — particularly those headed by women — are learning and asserting their land rights.

Partnering to create a community

Momajon and Karim were able to build their house at one go with the help of low-interest loans from a microfinance bank and construction planning from Habitat Tajikistan.

Habitat Zambia builds home with member of vulnerable groups such as the elderly, people with disabilities, orphans and households headed up children. Lucy began raising her two younger brothers when she was in the seventh grade. Today, her family thrives in a Habitat house.
