Habitat for Humanity International recently received a $7.56 million grant to support 362 AmeriCorps member positions, marking the largest service member grant the global housing nonprofit has received in the past 10 years. The increased funding is part of AmeriCorps’ historic $580 million investment to better support national service and volunteerism.
Compass, Inc. has joined Habitat as a new partner and committed a donation of $200,000 to support the global housing organization’s mission of building safe, decent and affordable homes.
Working with local Habitat organizations, new and returning Habitat AmeriCorps service members will help to build or improve homes alongside future and existing Habitat homeowners and volunteers. Members are expected to contribute more than 426,700 hours of service during the 2021-2022 service year.

In the face of a historic housing shortage that includes a lack of entry-level homes and skyrocketing home prices, Habitat for Humanity will mobilize advocates in Washington D.C. this week to call on Congress to take needed action to address the affordable housing crisis.
