What a loss! I think he was too good to be a president (by today's standards). If more people were like him and Rosalynn, the world would be a MUCH kinder and nicer world. The work they did, with much love, will forever be a legacy where they are concerned. They were what HOPE is for many people who just needed help. And they did that with love. Jimmy Carter was always my favorite president but more importantly a friend.

A true inspiration while serving others selflessly. Thank you for your legacy, President Carter.

I was newly married and in college when I read about Habitat for Humanity. It featured President Jimmy Carter and his wife, Rosalynn Carter in the article. I was a new Christian and so inspired by his love of God, country, and his fellow man. I remember thinking that one day my husband and I would also volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. I joined Habitat in the Solano and Napa Counties of California and I am still inspired by President and Mrs. Carter's example, except now I am actually participating in something that is truly rewarding and benefiting to others. Thank you President and Mrs. Carter. If you were on trial for your Christian beliefs, sir there would be enough evidence to convict you. Well done good and faithful servant.

I never had the pleasure of meeting him personally, but for years I’ve known that I wanted to follow his example helping build Habitats for Humanity, 4 or 5 houses later, I haven’t regretted a minute. Don’t think for a minute that you don’t have anything to offer. I’ve learned so much, and will continue for years, God willing.

Jimmy Carter was one of the most underrated Presidents of the US history. His gentleness and caring for the people he served was unparalleled. And he did it all without the trappings of the political aristocracy.

I lost my mom to Melanoma, and I was diagnosed with the disease 12 years ago. It's a terrifying disease - one with a pretty ugly outcome in most cases. I will never forget when President Carter was diagnosed. Watching him fight and win against it has given me hope. He was an incredible man and heaven just gained an amazing angel.

Former President Carter and First Lady Carter will be truly missed. I enjoyed working the Carter weekends with them. I got to see how loving and caring they are I am going to truly miss them.

You have been an inspiration and role model to our world on what humanity and community means in practice. I am thankful for your energy, which will live on through the work we do at Habitat.

My father always loved him! He said very little about politics. However, this was a man that he admired and respected way before he was ever president. He said that Jimmy Carter will leave changes that will affect the world long after he passes.

He will be greatly missed. What a legacy he has left to the world. You can see how he left such an impression with what he and his wife did. He really cared about people who needed love and compassion. There will never be such a selfless person again in this world.

I remember that he was such a warm person who wore cardigan sweaters to his fireside chats with the nation during his presidency. I have a peanut necklace that has his toothy smile and that I was proud to wear after he won the election of 1976. He was a wonderful man whose life we should all try to emulate.

I had the opportunity to volunteer many times with Habitat for Humanity through my work, and it was always a very rewarding experience, helping those that would not otherwise have had an opportunity to own a home. President and Mrs. Carter thank you for lives well lived and for doing God's work. May you both rest easy now in the arms of the Lord! And God bless the Carter family.

I really love President Carter. He always wanted to give back, help others. It seems nothing was too hard or out of the way for him to help others. I have a lot of respect and honor for him for all he did for our country as President and after he left office. He worked tirelessly all his years. I will miss him and think of him often. It's an incredible feeling to honor President Carter and Mrs. Carter. Although I never had the opportunity to meet you both in person, I am so deeply grateful that I could visit the Carter center in Atlanta to be personally connected and inspired by your life, thank you for sharing your love and message of humanity to the world! I am 58 years old, and therefore I have observed many famous, influential people pass away. I have never been more saddened and moved by the passing of Jimmy Carter. He was perhaps the most selfless and kind person I have ever known. I wish I had been able to personally meet this remarkable man. But he has established a legacy that will continue indefinitely.

One of the greatest lessons I’ve ever learned is that leadership is about influence. Mr. and Mrs. Carter have been fearless influencers of global change through incredible organizations like Habitat for Humanity. As an 18-year-old living in Kenya, I’ve been deeply inspired by Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter’s efforts to create a lasting legacy of positive change for future generations. Rest well, Jimmy!

What an honor and experience to have worked with President Carter on several Carter Work Projects. A very concerned and compassionate man. A real role model.

I saw Jimmy Carter speak when he began campaigning, it was in 1975, I was a college student, he came to University of Buffalo (at the time it was State University of New York @ Buffalo). I was either a freshman or a sophomore. My first presidential election was in 1976, I don't think I need to say who I voted for. In his honor, I've become a monthly donor to Habitat for Humanity.

Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter were well before my time. I'm 29 years old but, growing up and learning about President Carter I always knew he was one of the most fair and altruistic presidents we have had in US History. After his passing and hearing Habitat executives talk on behalf of Jimmy what he truly did inspired me. Since then, I have become a regular supporter and hope to be more involved.

“We told the truth, we obeyed the law and we kept the peace.” Jimmy Carter Thank you, Mr. President and Rosalynn for doing all the good you could, in all the ways you could, in every place you could and for all the times you did. “And you, holy, loving angel and guide, watch over us with all the tenderness of your angelic heart.” May your memory be eternal, President Jimmy Carter.

I was totally honored to have worked with President- Nobel Peace Prize recipient Jimmy Carter on a Habitat project in Jacksonville, FL. My father was a supporter of Habitat for Humanity. He greatly respected the Carters' dedication to housing. When Dad could no longer drive, he decided to donate his vehicle to Habitat but first insisted that it be fully serviced because, “I want to provide a vehicle to this fine organization that will not fall apart on them. They deserve better.” So he & I took it to be serviced. Bless y'all.

When he was Governor, my brother's scout Explorer troop went on a mission to save the Flynt River from being dammed. They went to Carter and gave their presentation and he reversed the decision to dam the river which was heavily used by scouts. It was a true Mr. Smith moment. I have many special memories about him, my parents got to know him after my brothers visit.

So proud to have served under President Jimmy Carter a true leader and humanitarian.
