Everyone deserves a decent place to call home. For 50 years, Habitat has been turning that mission into reality by helping millions of people around the world build, improve or finance their homes.
Today, we’re building on that momentum.
We’re popping up in 10 cities worldwide with an art installation of 10 doors, each featuring work from local artists and real homeowner stories.

Danniell is an aspiring artist who graduated from the University of Central Florida with her BFA in Studio Art. She loves working in 2D digital and traditional art and is working to improve her skills and creativity every day. This is a teaser image of her door artwork.
In this illustration, I explore the idea that “home” is not defined by perfection, but by presence. A space that holds both chaos and comfort, and where everyday routines can
become lasting memories. The setting is a small apartment bathroom shared by a group
of young women preparing for a night out. The counter is cluttered with makeup, hair
tools, and half-open products. Blasting music on your laptop. Clothes are scattered
across the floor. The mirror is covered in doodles and affirmations. It is messy, lived-in, loud and alive. The casual closeness between the girls suggests a sense of trust and belonging.
For me, home lives in these in-between moments, the private moments that happen
behind closed doors. This illustration is a direct, candid look into a moment in time when you open that door. A bathroom like this becomes more than a functional space, but
transforms into a safe haven. Within its walls, vulnerability and confidence coexist. One girl carefully applies lipstick while studying her reflection. Another crouches to try on different pairs of shoes. Someone relaxes in the bath. Two women snapping a selfie together, documenting a fleeting moment of youth and connection. These gestures are ordinary, yet together they create a feeling of belonging.
The mess itself shows this level of comfort. There is no pressure to be polished or
perfect here. The scattered clothing and crowded counter reflect trust that this space is safe enough to be fully yourself. In many ways, the bathroom becomes the emotional
heart of the apartment. It is where encouragement is exchanged, insecurities are
embraced, and laughter echoes against tiled walls. And for many, including me,
bathroom hangouts hold fond memories.
Habitat’s mission centers on building safe, functional homes for families. This piece
reflects that same foundation on an intimate scale. A secure home is not just shelter but the freedom to exist without judgment, to gather, to live, to dream. In this bathroom, safety is expressed through friendship, routine and shared memories. It is a reminder that home is created not only by walls and doors, but by the people who fill them with warmth and give them life and meaning.
