Climate-resilient villages: Improve housing, sanitation and incomes for 500 vulnerable people in Indonesia

Mauk, Indonesia, is home to 90,000 people, with an average of four to five individuals per household. Around 35,000 live in extreme poverty. This project will help build decent, climate-resilient housing to help improve the lives of people living in extremely poor conditions.

Carter Work Project 2024

The 2024 Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project was a landmark milestone for Habitat, marking the project’s 40th anniversary. Habitat Humanitarians and country music superstars Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood hosted the event in St. Paul, Minnesota, from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1, 2024.

Carter Work Project 2026

In 2026, for the first time since 1988, the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project will return to Atlanta. Atlanta Habitat for Humanity will bring volunteers, partners and affordable housing advocates together May 3–8 to build 24 new single-family homes and townhomes.

Among the Carter Work Project 2024 volunteers were current Twin Cities Habitat homeowners, who understand firsthand the challenges of unstable housing. This year, they’re excited to continue to give back and help their future neighbors build homes, community and hope in St. Paul, Minnesota.
