More than 350 AmeriCorps members and 75 alumni will build or repair 22 homes during Habitat for Humanity’s annual AmeriCorps Build-a-Thon in Raleigh, North Carolina, this week.
For the fourth consecutive year, Habitat for Humanity and the Quicken Loans Community Fund are kicking off its partnership by volunteering with local Habitat organizations during Quicken Loans Neighborhoods Weeks in Cleveland, Phoenix and Charlotte.
The $100,000 donation will support on-the-ground responses to Hurricane Harvey in Houston, Texas and affected areas.
During the 2017-2018 service year, AmeriCorps members will contribute more than 595,000 hours of service toward building or improving Habitat homes in 125 communities in partnership with 1,700 homeowners.
Since 1999, Whirlpool Corp. has supported Habitat for Humanity to help improve and broaden the ways Habitat can assist more families to achieve housing stability.
The grant will support 350 AmeriCorps member positions in 130 communities across the United States for the 2018-2019 service year.
