An Overview of the Bamboo Industry in Cebu and Negros Oriental

Habitat for Humanity’s Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter commissioned a study to profile the bamboo industry focused on bamboo production propagating and planting, collection and distribution in the provinces of Cebu and Negros Oriental. This research aligns with the Center’s ongoing efforts to explore how the growing bamboo industry in the region can support innovative, sustainable housing solutions. By promoting high-quality bamboo construction, we aim to help low-income families build safer, more resilient homes—ultimately improving their quality of life.
