Program description

El Salvador, the smallest and most densely populated country in Central America, faces a growing housing shortage affecting more than 1.3 million families. With 31.9% of the population living in extreme poverty, the need for adequate housing is critical.

Habitat for Humanity El Salvador responds through land‑legalization services, new home construction, home improvements and targeted support for vulnerable families. As part of the Building Hope project, volunteers will help build permanent homes for 36 families and complete home improvements for 24 others. Work will include partnering with contractors and local volunteers to construct concrete‑block homes with steel reinforcement, glass shutter windows, metal doors and cement‑tile flooring.
