Spotlighting 6 neighbors helping neighbors at Carter Work Project 2024

Among the Carter Work Project 2024 volunteers were current Twin Cities Habitat homeowners, who understand firsthand the challenges of unstable housing. This year, they’re excited to continue to give back and help their future neighbors build homes, community and hope in St. Paul, Minnesota.

 

Strategies for housing advocates to effect policy change

In 2023, Habitat funded the Urban Institute to assess policy changes and interview stakeholders from Cost of Home’s first four years. Researchers identified six key strategies for driving policy and systems change.

The solutions

Achieving policy solutions in the four areas laid out by our Cost of Home campaign platform has enabled families to have greater access to homes they can afford — and to all the opportunities that follow.

Newly signed energy efficiency bill will strengthen the economy and produce significant energy savings

On April 30, 2015, President Obama signed the Energy Efficiency Improvement Act of 2015, legislation supported by Habitat for Humanity International, enacting key energy efficiency provisions that will strengthen the economy, reduce pollution and produce significant energy savings.
