Families are at the heart of Habitat’s mission. And in some families, the drive to help others find decent, affordable housing is passed down like eye color, a habit of the heart.

From 2013-2024, the U.S. Agency for International Development Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity International and supported by InterAction, sponsored select graduate students through a fellowship, helping bolster the students’ research and futures in the humanitarian shelter and settlement sector.

For the past 12 years, second graders at Louisiana’s Christ Episcopal School in Covington have raised money for Habitat St. Tammany West in a unique manner: an intra-school post office.
