Meet seven families who have partnered with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home.
When Hurricane Harvey tore into Texas in September 2017, six local Habitat for Humanity organizations responded as soon as floodwaters ebbed. In the time since, Habitat has built or repaired homes with families in affected communities, in addition to providing disaster-related services and loans to homeowners.
Access to a safe, decent home can transform a life. Samantha is 13 years old and has lived in 13 different places. This last one, she says, is going to stick. “I know I am not going anywhere. And that feels good.”
The need and lasting impact affordable housing has on homeowners and their families is undeniable.
