According to the global housing nonprofit’s fiscal year 2023 annual report released today, Habitat for Humanity has worked alongside more than 59 million people around the world since its founding in 1976.
Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Hurricane Stan, Sierra Leone’s humanitarian emergency and the Gujarat earthquake were some of the Disaster Response efforts we worked on from 2001 to 2005.
The Chile earthquake, the Haiti earthquake, Typhoon Ketsana, earthquakes in Indonesia, Cyclone Nargis, Cyclone Sidr and Hurricane Felix were some of the Disaster Response efforts we worked on from 2006 to 2010.
Tornadoes in Georgia, Hurricane Floyd in North Carolina and Hurricanes Mitch and Georges in Central America were some of the Disaster Response efforts we worked on from 1996 to 2000.
Recognizing that responding to disasters is not enough, Habitat and affiliated organizations around the world, especially those located in disaster-prone regions, work to reduce vulnerabilities and build community resilience.
