Jessie hoped the home she’s lived most of her life would be a place her family could enjoy and pass down to future generations. That’s why she worked alongside Habitat for Humanity of York County, with support from Wells Fargo Builds, to help her make her home a safe place to live.
Nearly 19 million households across the United States are spending at least half of their income on a place to live, often foregoing basic necessities like adequate food and health care to make ends meet. In response to that challenge, Habitat for Humanity is launching its first-ever nationwide advocacy campaign in the United States.

Alongside Habitat El Salvador, this Habitat family built a sturdy, affordable home that relies on wind, vegetation, the sun and even the heat to reduce their energy needs and costs.
In 2023, Habitat launched a sustainable design innovation challenge, generously sponsored by Weyerhauser, with the goal of increasing access to affordable, high-quality homes by encouraging innovative ideas that promote sustainability and resiliency. Check out a slideshow of the results.
