Catalyzing innovation in shelter

Largely driven by rapid urbanization, the global housing deficit is estimated to swell to 1.6 billion people by 2025. As public sector initiatives alone are not sufficient to close this large housing gap, we need to help housing markets work better for low income families.  

Research and practice show that market-based solutions have the potential to address the problem. Catalyzing innovation and development of affordable construction technologies and materials could empower more people to improve their housing conditions independently and thus help reduce the housing deficit.
