These two new reports examine the need and propose solutions for encouraging the incremental adaptation of housing in informal settlements using sustainable building practices, as well as avenues for overcoming investment barriers and how to attract more climate tech investors in the sheltertech sector.
Habitat is calling on delegates at the COP28 climate change conference to prioritize the housing needs of vulnerable populations, particularly those who are living in slums and informal settlements, by taking action that will meaningfully address the impact of climate change on safe, decent and affordable housing.
According to the global housing nonprofit’s fiscal year 2023 annual report released today, Habitat for Humanity has worked alongside more than 59 million people around the world since its founding in 1976.
The donation will be used to support staff capacity and training, subsidize the cost of adding a FORTIFIED roof to 21 new homes, fund the construction of safe rooms in five homes and more.

During the month of April, more than 400 Kum & Go locations engaged store associates and encouraged customers to donate to Habitat at checkout, which raised more than $547,000.
