A Primer on Deepening Access to Low-Income Housing Finance in India: Landscape Analysis & Recommendations

A new report from Habitat for Humanity’s Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter, developed in partnership with Sa-Dhan, an association of impact finance institutions in the microfinance sector, maps the financing landscape and highlights persistent gaps on both the demand and supply sides.

Carter Work Project 2026

In 2026, for the first time since 1988, the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project will return to Atlanta. Atlanta Habitat for Humanity will bring volunteers, partners and affordable housing advocates together May 3-8 to build 24 new single-family homes and townhomes.

Habitat's commitment to the New Urban Agenda

At the 2016 United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III), Habitat for Humanity welcomed the adoption of the New Urban Agenda. As part of this framework, we committed to reduce poverty and foster more sustainable cities by increasing access to decent shelter for over 200 million people by 2036.

Love never quits

It was 1942, and on the outskirts of the rural South Georgia town of Americus, a radical experiment began. Koinonia Farm was the culmination of the lifelong passions of farmer and biblical scholar Clarence Jordan. On that farm, among rows of pecan trees, after years of struggles caused by boycotts and persecution, the seeds for Habitat for Humanity were sown.

Habitat at the World Urban Forum: Our work in Egypt and the Middle East

Families partner with Habitat for Humanity across the Middle East to build or improve a place they can call home. In Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon, we address urgent housing needs, support displaced populations and foster sustainable, resilient communities.

2025 Carter Work Project Rural Rally

To shine the light on the need for more affordable housing in rural America, Habitat held its first-ever Rural Rally as part of the 2025 Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project.

The 39th annual Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project took place October 26–31, 2025, led by Austin Habitat for Humanity. Hundreds of volunteers came together to build 25 affordable, energy-efficient homes in Whisper Valley, a sustainable community in East Austin. Carter Work Project 2019

The 2019 Carter Work Project headed to Tennessee where President and Mrs. Carter worked alongside future homeowners and volunteers to build 21 homes in Nashville.
