Jessie hoped the home she’s lived most of her life would be a place her family could enjoy and pass down to future generations. That’s why she worked alongside Habitat for Humanity of York County, with support from Wells Fargo Builds, to help her make her home a safe place to live.

How did Farhana’s life change just by owning a home?
Access to a safe, decent home can transform a life. Samantha is 13 years old and has lived in 13 different places. This last one, she says, is going to stick. “I know I am not going anywhere. And that feels good.”
Habitat Mexico was helping families construct safe and durable homes near Camilo’s village and he frequently made the hours-long journey on horseback to their work site to check on their progress, learn about Habitat’s construction program and try to convince them to expand their program to his hometown further south — his persistence paid off.
While every Habitat house is built to keep families safe, warm and dry, their designs and layouts vary based on local style, climate, cultural customs and locally available materials.
In this season of giving thanks, millions of families will gather at home to remember good times and to create more. That’s what a home does; it provides a stable place for families to grow strong and make memories.
In the time since Hurricane Irma hit Florida in 2017, we have been hard at work helping families build or repair safe, affordable homes across the state in areas hit by the storm and providing disaster-related services to affected families as well.
